SKRILLEX: Scary Monsters Decimate A Glass Place With Deadly Bass

It's GODZILLA! It's KING KONG!
It's the ABOMINABLE SNOWMAN!
It's the LOCH NESS MONSTER!

YES, OH MY GAWDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!

The MECHS are coming! The CRYPTIDS are coming!
The ZOMBIES are coming! The SPACE INVADERS are coming!

THE SCARY MONSTERS ARE COMING!

YES, OH MY GAWDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!
CALL 911 NOWWWWWWWWWWWW!

Hide the uninitiated...at least until the NICE SPRITES arrive...

Marking his first Southern Cal performance since slaying Coachella, SKRILLEX (mild-mannered Sonny Moore by day) joined DJ sprites Porter Robinson, ZeDD, The Juggernaut and Innerpartysystem last Friday for an evening of sensory decimation.

Anticipation for this (and, really, every) performance was way, way off the charts as SKRILLEX has BLOWN UP in the last eight months to International superstardom as the current "IT" DJ.

Sonny's not a scary monster but a nice sprite having partnered up with Deadmau5' Mau5trap Recordings / Big Beat-Atlantic for both his debut SMANS album and subsequent More Monsters... Ep (released June 21).

Ground Zero for the onslaught of monster bass detonations was The Glass House in Pomona, CA with first airstrikes exploding at 8PM. Sergeant SKRILLEX strapped us in a heavily armored tank ready to seek and destroy the place at just before midnight with but one simple request; to please put the cameras down, to just enjoy yourself and keep this as a "memory" rather than a high definition slideshow.

Much like the ongoing SKRILLEX mantra as it relates to his studio work, anything goes during his live show. This throw everything-in-the-kitchen, including the sink, mentality was on full-on display as his set was a high velocity A.D.D. mash-up of dubstep, electro house, drum n bass, big beat, breakbeat, progressive trance, industrial rock, soul, reggae, hip-hop and even a taste of West African Juju.

When I listen to SKRILLEX, especially, visceral tracks like "Fucking Die" and "Kill Everybody," my brain willingly becomes hostage to an imaginary video-game landscape whereby I'm in a first-person "shooter" video game and IT REALLY IS my mission to kill everybody in the world.

YES, OH MY GAWDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!

SKRIL satiated the amped up throng with fan favorites "My Name Is Skrillex," "WEEKENDS!!!," "Do Da Oliphant," and "With Your Friends (Long Drive)," which he has admitted is the original song he is most proud of.

Moore also previewed some brand new material (one track without a title was instantly dubbed "Pomona") as well as his new single "Rock N' Roll (Will Take You To The Mountain)":

(Cameos by Deadmau5, Wee Man, Tommy Lee, James "Munky" Shaffer of Korn, 12th Planet, Rusko, Borgore, Benga, Dada Life, Excision, A-Trak, Steve Aoki, Spor, Diplo, The Bloody Beetroots, DatsiK, Sofi Toufa, ZeDD & Penny)

As evidenced in his Rock N' Roll.. video, SKRILLEX has been at the vortex of a tornado of activity the last few years, having done remixes for the likes of Lady Gaga ("Bad Romance" & "Alejandro"), Black Eyed Peas ("Rock That Body"), All American Rejects ("The Wind Blows"), Horse the Band ("Golden Mummy Golden Bird"), Atreyu ("In For The Kill") and Perry Farrell ("Go All The Way (Into the Twilight)" from Twilight: The Movie). He also recently produced a track for Korn ("Get Up!").

With such a deafening demand, there will be much, much more earth-shaking bass to be unleashed in the forseeable future. In fact, I have openly wished for SKRILLEX to be tapped to Super Size the Britney Spears Femme Fatale track "Big Fat Bass" (written by/featuring will.i.am).

For the encore, Moore asked for a universal showing of lighters and lit cellphones for ten seconds of silence in honor of Ryan Dunn (of Jackass fame), who died four days prior as his Porsche 911 GT3 careened off the road and hit a tree in Chester County, PA.

After the respectful reprieve, Sonny asked the gentlemen in the audience to put all the lovely ladies on their shoulders before prompting a massive sing-along to Benny Benassi's "Cinema" as a tribute to Dunn's heavenly sprite who was surely watching over us.

Adding levity to the spiritual proceeding was some crowd-surfing on top of the outstretched hands of the audience in an inflatable boat. A surreal transcendent moment (of course, captured for posterity):
