Rachel Taylor and Trevor Kelly both worked at Ted Brown Music in Tacoma, Washington. After countless days of passing each other at work, they eventually started to jam together in the back room.
While Rachel influenced her past years growing up and Trevor continued to listen to hardcore music, something interesting, creative and aromatic percolated.
Aside from the Tacoma aroma, there was something else in the air...
Trevor thinks it was destiny…
Rachel still thinks it was the aroma...
The sweet, sweet aroma of He Is We; the idea that someone who you pass by everyday can influence the rest of your life… and you might never know.
"Does she look at you the way I do"
Self-releasing a single called A Mess It Grows in the summer of 2009, the duo blew up via social media and by the end of the year, were voted the #1 unsigned band at PureVolume. In February 2010, Rachel & Trevor released a batch of demos, and in November, Universal Motown issued their debut album My Forever.
With a breakout single in the form of "Happily Ever After," the shape of their ascent is meteoric.
He Is We are set to play twice at Bonnaroo before commencing their All About You headline tour with special guests Ocean Grove and Andrew Allen. On the road, Rachel and Trevor will be joined by Harrison Allen on drums, Carman Kubanda on bass and Aaron Campbell on keyboard/guitar.
During this run of dates, fans are likely to hear a brand new HIW demo called Tell Me which debuted at PureVolume this past week.

Here's a hilarious video of Trevor interviewing Cadence Groovenstein (with questions submitted by Rachel) during this spring's Let's Be Animals tour with The Downtown Fiction, Amely and the inimitable Cady Groves:
